Hi Everyone, Some of you know I've been in the process of applying for Social Security Disability. Nina helped me a tremendous amount in the last few years when submitting the paperwork. I'd been denied twice and when that happens I can do a third appeal to appear before a judge. I wasn't expecting to even get a date for the hearing until February 2021 (next year!) so I was pleasantly surprised when I got the hearing date in March 2020, and the hearing date was set for today, 617W day, June 17 -- as a *telephone hearing* due to COVID-19. All four people on the call were working from home, including the judge. The hearing went well and the attorney assigned by the insurance company to represent me believes the judge will grant my request. It could still be denied, but the attorney said the fourth appeal process would be a simple one. The call started off a little nerve wracking because no one could hear me well, and the official person doing the recording said I was barely audible. The judge was preparing to cancel the phone hearing and switch to in-person... but then I cranked up the mic volume and the official person doing the recording said it was good and we could proceed. Phew! Glad this part of the process is over now, at least ten months ahead of schedule, because who knows when the court house would be opened for in-person hearings. Sad anniversary out there among the stars

My brother Trent died a year ago today (10/07/2018). It still hurts but it's more like "pangs" and nothing as constant or all-consuming as it was this time last year. I remember thinking then it was a relief that it was finally over for him. It still turns my stomach at how aggressive the cancer was. Sigh.

Occasionally it turns up something interesting, but not necessarily good enough for the STARMANET list. [image: image.png] “Take Me,” the new musical by Mark Guarino (book) and Jon Langford (music), has a lot going for it, beginning with an infectious rock score and impressive vocal talents. Langford, a veteran of many kick-ass punk and rockabilly bands, gifts the show enough groovy guitar licks and punchy, uptempo beats for a half-dozen rock space operas. The story development, however, lags more than a few measures behind its very impressive musical composition. Nicole Bloomsmith stars as Shelly, a not-so-stable mom, who suspects that aliens are grooming her for something bigger. That Shelly would fantasize about a life among the stars makes sense given that her husband, a pilot and sole survivor of a plane crash, lies in a vegetative state. Besides communicating with aliens, Shelly spends a fair amount of time trying to guide her husband (Michael Reyes) back to ground. Eventually, she comes to believe that the aliens want her to build a UFO-centric amusement park in Roswell, New Mexico. Helping her in this endeavor is a collection of misfit characters who all believe that they, too, are being watched by benevolent aliens. (snip)

Jeff Bezos revealed his moon lander today and the shape...seems familiar. I'm sure that and the fact that the company name is "Blue Origin" is just a remarkable coincidence.
