Many months ago Bruce invited me to go with him to the Airstream Rally. While I enjoy spending time doing things with Bruce, the idea of being among so many people, all the astronomy and spending so much money to see the eclipse didn't appeal to me so I opted out.
I will be volunteering at the Yakima Visitor Information Center on that day. It was one of the ten days in August I wasn't already committed so when the manager asked me to work that day I agreed.

I'll be at the Airstream Blackout Rally in Madras, OR. It's a private event sponsored by the local Airstream club, including sun and star watching parties, a NASA astronaut, a professional astronomer, a Science teacher and lots of good cooking. Sounds like it's gonna be a great time!

I'll be in Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, solar binoculars and eclipse glasses in hand. Dusted off my old Canon with a 500 mm lens and a 3x teleconverter, and bought a solar filter. All that's still needed is good weather.
