Paul, of course, is speaking at the conference in his post chase universe. Although he can't give details of how it's done, he can at least be encouraging.
For us, it's worth following. Given the distance to the nearest star is measured in light years, propulsion would still have to approach a large fraction of the speed of light to be anywhere near a "reasonable" travel time.
When I checked, the speed of light is some 671 million mph. So travel at even half that speed would take 8 years to reach the nearest star. Small wonder no real starman has come visiting!
