It's been puzzling that little information had been given about the killing. She was shot in the head twice so clearly from close range. The news just kept saying "not gang related", "no suspects", "not random", but with no information at all. Then today, it's like something out of an episode of "Law and Order".
March 5, 2013UNION GAP, Wash. – Police say the woman shot outside a theater last week was killed by her husband. In an arrested affidavit, Union Gap police allege that 43-year-old John Munzanreder shot his wife in the parking lot of the Majestic theater, then threw the gun to an accomplice who hid the weapon at the car dealership where they both worked. Cynthia Kelly- Munzanreder died two days later at a local hospital. Munzanreder and co-worker Juan Pablo Ibanez Cortes are both being held at Yakima County jail under suspicion of first-degree murder. Both were arrested yesterday.
Both suspects worked at Valley Ford Nissan, where Munzanreder was the service manager and Ibanez was a service technician. According to the arrest affidavit, Munzanreder first offered Ibanez $20,000 to kill his wife. When Ibanez refused, Munzanreder asked for his help and he agreed, according to police. Cortes was told to stand behind some bushes and wait until a gun was thrown to him, according to the affidavit. Police said Ibanez took the .44-caliber handgun to the car dealership, where they later found it after serving a search warrant at the business. Police said during the investigation Munzanreder said there was no problem in his marriage, but police said it was “common knowledge” that he’d been having an affair for more than two months.
