I met him on Saturday. His first name is Burton.
McNeely's 50 year career of shooting on assignment for many leading magazines and ad campaigns for leading outdoor product manufacturers started in 1955. His specialty was underwater photography because he was already designing his own housings for existing cameras before SCUBA was available in the U.S. This led to work for Life Magazine in 1957, then to a 3 year project for National Geographic, their first ' shark essay' for the Feb.1968 issue and a similar project for Life international on sharks. He worked for Life until they folded in the early 1970s, and also for major firms such as Chrysler Marine, Yamaha Motors, Bass Pro Shops, and Ski- Doo snowmobiles on general outdoor photography. His underwater specialty won him work for Playboy and many other men's magazines over the years, and his collection of U/W and outdoor nudes are the most popular ones that have been used for art prints. These have been very popular as galley wrapped canvas prints, because they're ready to hang without frames and many customers have created beautiful groupings using subjects from both collections. He makes walls beautiful.
